Ki, Reraise, both of you, please stop arguing and cluttering the thread. pvp'ers who are whining and moaning, please stop, we get your point. no one wants to take away your precious empire wars. I want to make something abundantly clear right now. I like empire wars, they can be a lot of fun. i have fought PA plus many other merc corps in this manner, its fun. But as a member of a small corp with new players it can be a downright crappy experience. when you are in this situation, you dont have a lot of isk, you are a new player. losing even the cheapest ships can be a major setback. you can only buy cheap ships, no intys, no battlecruisers, no ganktastic battleships. this is a humongous disadvantage, especially when not enough people are on to field a fleet, which is what you need to counteract the players with 1)skills, 2)experience, and 3)deeper pockets. now how do we counter act these problems, because they are problems, especially for new corps.
some possible solutions:
1) use a sliding scale for war decing folks, perhaps take factors like total sp in the corp, the total net worth of the corpand perhaps add to the cost of declaring a war if you have war decs already.
2) i liked the idea of a clearly stated goal for ending the war. you can still fight somone just because you want to, but imposing reasonable limits upon the extent of destruction, again, to give you pew pew while making it fun for the other corp. impose limits on how extreme these goals would be depending on net worth, isk, and skill points of the corp
3) perhaps allow for allied or friendly corps to join a battle without the threat of concord showing up and just pwning everyone who is fighting and not war deced. i think this might be sort of the idea behind factional warfare. say i am in group y, i am friendly with group x. group x is war deced and being beaten up bad tonight. im on, actually want some pew pew pew unlike th other group. let me actually attck the pirates or the mercs and have some fun. and pirates and mercs, maybe you would get more targets, which you claim you love (and i know some of you actually do).
